The goal was to make a generative pattern pertaining to coping in hard times and just life in general. The pattern is soothing and soft in nature so that the user feels comforted. The pattern explores the spectrum of feeling calm and collected. The pattern highlights the theme of chaos of the random numbers generated from processing that output a pattern that evokes a sense of calm and structure. The parameters were to use Processing, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator to create a pattern, journal layout, and mockups. The tone words are: caring, informative, honest, clear, and organic. The archetype is carer. The role of this project is to give people a place to process their emotions and things as well as how to cope tidbits of information. Also, the journal will contain information that leads them to get more help on the corners of the page, it will be located at the back inside splash cover. The deliverables include a publication of a journal with a pattern and information about how to cope best with life’s struggles. The journal mockup is in several two page layouts, as well as front, back, and inside splash covers. The journal is also be pocket sized, so that it can go anywhere and can be used at any time.
